Subtitled Tuesday: 'Srbenka'
On September 25, our regular
screening program 'Subtitled Tuesday' (with English subtitles included) will
present the award-winning Croatian documentary 'Srbenka' directed by Nebojša Slijepčević. Screening starts at 8:45 p. m.
In the winter of 1991, twelve-year-old Serbian girl Aleksandra Zec was
killed. Despite being known to the public, the perpetrators were never
sentenced for the crime. A quarter of a century later, theatre director
Oliver Frljić is making a play about the Zec case. The process brings to
the surface hidden traumas, turning the rehearsals into collective
psychotherapy.
This poignant documentary has had it's share of awards, including the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Documentary Film at this year's Sarajevo Film Festival and the prestigious DocAlliance Award at Cannes Film Festival. It was recently shortlisted for the European Film Awards which will take place in December 2018 (15 Best Documentaries of the Year).
