Subtitled Tuesday: 'Loveless'
On July 24, our regular screening program 'Subtitled Tuesday' (with English subtitles included) will present the eerie thriller-drama 'Loveless' ('Nelyubov', 2017), directed by celebrated Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev. Screening starts at 8:30 p. m.
Zhenya and Boris are going through a bitter divorce. They both have their future planned out and eagerly await the divorce finalization to start a new life with their new partners – Boris with his attractive and pregnant girlfriend Masha, and Zhenya with the wealthy businessman Anton. None of them show a lot of interest for their son, Alyosha, whom they see as one of the obstacles on their way to a bright new future. But then Alyosha disappears without a trace. A frantic search begins. This enigmatic tale of family pain and institutional failure won the Jury Prize at Cannes and the Golden Bicycle Award at the 15th Zagreb Film Festival.
