Subtitled Tuesday: 'Julieta'
On December 20th our regular screening program 'Subtitled Tuesday' (with English subtitles included) will present 'Julieta' (orig. title 'Julieta') directed by famous Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar. The screening starts at 7:10 pm.
Based on a book 'Runaway' by Canadian Novel Prize winner Alice Munro, 'Julieta' follows the titular character at two critical points in her life: in the present middle-aged Julieta is about to leave Spain to live in Portugal, but an unexpected encouter on the street will bring a change in her plans. Flashbacks take us back 32 years to her chance encounter on a train that led to both a birth and a death.
'Julieta' is selected as Spain's Foreign Language Oscar submission, and it will be Almodóvar's sixth film to compete for this prize.
