Subtitled T-days: 'Ma ma' & 'ZG80'
During the summer, every Tuesday and Thursday screenings at Cinema Europa's main hall will have English subtitles next to the Croatian. This is a chance for our growing international audience in the unique setting of Zagreb's 90-year-old cinema in Varšavska 3 to see our non-English-speaking regular releases on the big screen.
On August 30th (Tuesday) at 7 pm our program 'Subtitled T-days' will present 'Ma ma' (Croatian title: 'Ma ma') and on September 1st (Thursday) at 7:15 pm 'ZG80' (orig. Croatian title: 'ZG80').
'Ma ma', a "wondrously imaginative melodrama about life, death, romance, and motherhood" (TIFF), is the latest film from acclaimed Spanish director Julio Medem. The film stars Penélope Cruz as a woman whose grace and enormous capacity for love guide her through tragedies and miracles alike.
'ZG80', directed by Croatian director Igor Šeregi, follows a group of Croatian football fans on their way to Belgrade to attend a match between the Croatian and Serbian teams at the end of 1980s.
