Subtitled T-days: 'A Bigger Splash' & 'Rams'
During the summer, every Tuesday and Thursday screenings at Cinema Europa's main hall will have English subtitles next to the Croatian. This is a chance for our growing international audience in the unique setting of Zagreb's 90-year-old cinema in Varšavska 3 to see our non-English-speaking regular releases on the big screen.
On August 16th (Tuesday) at 6:30 pm our program 'Subtitled T-days' will present 'A Bigger Splash' (Croatian title: 'Rasprskavanje') and on August 18th (Thursday) at 7:15 pm 'Rams' (original title: 'Hrútar'; Croatian title: 'Ovnovi').
'A Bigger Splash' is a dazzling, sensuous portrait of desire, jealousy and rock'n'roll under the Mediterranean sun, directed by Luca Guadagnino ('I Am Love') and starring Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Dakota Johnson and Matthias Schoenaerts.
Grímur Hákonarson's 'Rams', "a marvel of deadpan comedy" (The Wall Street Journal), premiered at the Un Certain Regard section of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, where it won a Grand Prix. Set in a remote farming valley, the story follows who estranged brothers who must come together to save what's dearest to them - their sheep. In a warm and subtle way, the film depicts the deeply rooted rural culture which is inextricably connected with the Icelandic national spirit.
