Subtitled Tuesday: 'Son of Saul'
On February 2nd our regular screening program 'Subtitled Tuesday' (with English subtitles included) will present a film 'Son of Saul' (orig. title: 'Saul fia'; Croatian title: 'Saulov sin') at 9:25 pm.
'Son of Saul', "a powerful debut" (Variety) by Hunagrian director Laszlo Nemes gives "an outstanding, excoriating look at evil in Auschwitz" (The Guardian).
The Oscar-nominated harrowing drama is set in the Auschwitz death camp during the Second World War. The film (among a numerous other awards and acknowledgements) won a Grand Prix at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and Golden Globe.
Note: 'Subtitled Tuesdays' program takes place in Cinema Europa's big hall on every Tuesday, except when there are being hosted various film festivals, promotions or other events which are not part of Cinema Europa's regular annual film program. Screenings included in this program are always marked in our screening schedulge with a caption Subtitled Tuesday (HR & ENG subtitles).
