Subtitled Tuesdays: Girlhood & No One's Child

On September 22nd our regular screening program 'Subtitled Tuesdays' (with both English and Croatian subtitles included) will present two films: 'Girlhood' (orig. title: 'Bande de filles'; Croatian title: 'Cure') by Céline Sciamma at 7 pm and 'No One's Child' (orig. title: 'Ničije dete') by Vuk Ršumović at 9:15 pm.

'Girlhood', a 2014 LUX prize finalist, is an "electrifying portrait of a French girl in the hood" (The Guardian). Sciamma's first two features ('Water Lilies' and 'Tomboy') also followed young women passing through challenging periods of social confusion and identity crisis, but 'Girlhood' takes this one step further.

A Serbo-Croatian co-production 'No One's Child' is based on a true story that follows a wild boy found deep in the Bosnian mountains living amongst wolves in 1988. Film was awarded with three prizes at 2014 Venice International Critics' Week.

Note: 'Subtitled Tuesdays' program takes place in Cinema Europa's big hall on every Tuesday, except when there are being hosted various film festivals, promotions or other events which are not part of Cinema Europa's regular annual film program. Screenings included in this program are always marked in our screening schedulge with a caption Subtitled Tuesday (HR & ENG subtitles).
