Subtitled Tuesdays: 'Force Majeure' and 'The New Girlfriend'
On July 14 our regular screening program 'Subtitled Tuesdays' (with both English and Croatian subtitles included) will present two films: 'Force Majeure' by Ruben Östlund at 7 pm and 'The New Girlfriend' by François Ozon at 9:20 pm.
Swedish film 'Force Majeure' (Croatian title: 'Turist'), awarded with the jury award at Cannes Film Festival, tells the story of a model Swedish family - handsome businessman Tomas, his willowy wife Ebba and their two blond children - on a skiing holiday in the French Alps. One harmless avalanche will do no bodily harm, but it will leave this family entirely wrecked.
French film 'The New Girlfriend' (orig. title: 'Une Nouvelle Amie'; Croatian title: 'Nova prijateljica') is a humorous psychological drama based on a short story of the same name by Ruth Rendell, a British master of detective fiction. The main narrative line was transformed into a "delectably entertaining" (Variety) film about loss, identity and desire.
